The team have since retired and this site is now more a show piece to demonstrate PHP, MySQL, AJAX and other key skills.
The first site for the five-a-side team was in many ways an experiment to see how well it could be done and also if it would be used enough to warrant its existence.
As it happened once the website was launched it was a great success with all the players adding an extra competitive edge to their game and encouraging everyone to do their best in the team. By allowing the players to compare their statistics with other players they were able to evaluate their own performances.
The new site now holds many new features and views that the players felt would benefit them. The first to be added was the hover features on all the coloured squares allowing a quick look at the current form of the players. The next new feature which was the biggest change was the change between the display of the upcoming fixtures, by having them all side by side I was able to add much more detailed information about the other fixtures.
The index page has changed dramatically, the idea being that if one of the players didn't play in the previous game they can see all the information they need on the home page without visiting anywhere else in the site. They are quickly able to view the score the people who scored, and updated league table, other division results and how the seasons strikers are doing.
In summary the new site allows much more detailed evaluation of the team and their opponents and allows quicker location of the information needed.
